AIM MyTach GPS Logging watch is here!

Believe it or not, this little $299 piece is one of the most exciting products new products we've come across. The AIM MyTach is a VERY capable datalogger. Don't think of it as a watch, think of it an amazingly compact and useful analysis tool.My Tach

The MyTach has a GPS receiver that updates 10x per second.
It features an internal 3-axis accelerometer to record G's.
It tracks speed, distance, position and acceleration.
It can remember a start-finish line and give you lap times.
Data can be analyzed in AIM's popular Race Studio 2 software and be downloaded and viewed in Google Maps.

The potential for any automotive enthusiast is great. You can record acceleration runs, slalom, skidpad or anything else to evaluate your performance.  You can do laps at a track and not only look at speeds, braking points, G's through corners, etc  but have lap times as well.

Perhaps the most powerful thing is you can OVERLAY laps.  So you can see where you're doing better and where you're doing worse, and you can even compare yourself against other drivers/cars/etc.  And this is just in motorsports.  Its grear for mountain bikers, skiiers, etc as well.

Dan's Turbo from the Front

This is NOT your father's 1977 Porsche 911 Targa. 911 Design chopped, tubbed and added a twin-turbo GT3-based motor good for 850+hp. Apex Speed Technology was responsible for the MOTEC system installation and tuning. This car is FAST. Click on these links to see some videos.

The V10 powered E30 BMW is ALIVE!!!

BMW V10 powered E30 built with Piper Motorsports

BMW V10 powered E30 built with Piper Motorsports

After almost a year of work, the V10 powered E30 BMW is ALIVE.  We are currently involved with 4 BMW V10 projects, but this is the first to work in a car and it is incredible.  Piper Motorsports did an incredible job building this car, and its a real pleasure to drive.  We have over 150 miles of driving in a variety of traffic conditions from wide open to stop-and-go traffic, and the docile nature of the car is really nice.  Its E92 suspension package is so balanced you can do what you want with it, and its motor has torque that pulls like nothing else on the road.

The car features:

  • Fully sequential V12 fuel & spark by Pectel SQ6M12
  • Full variable camshaft control for all 4 cams.
  • Full electronic throttle control for both throttles.
  • Driver adjustable traction control system with 4 settings.
  • Driver selectable Anti-lock Brake system.
  • Digital Pi OMEGA dashboard with multiple pages to monitor all vital functions including oil pressure, temperature, electronic oil level sensing, fuel level, water temperature, speed, RPM, Traction Control setting, Map setting and more.
  • Ole Buhl Racing power management system with electronic load control and power distribution.
  • Electronic cooling fan with variable speed based on radiator temp and road speed.
  • Custom mil-spec wiring by Apex.

Now that the car is complete and running, it will be disassembled and painting.  In the meanwhile, Apex will shrink, boot and seal all the wiring harnesses in preparation for final assembly.  Expect to see finished pictures soon.

Harnesses will be shrunken and booted when car is at paint.

Steve Benjamin – a sportbike guy looking for the Apex edge!

Not all our customers are high-dollar pro teams!  Steve Benjamin is a street and track-day ZX-10R owner who was less than satisfied by the drivability and performance of his race-kit ECU.  Apex replaced it with a Bazzaz ZF-i unit with the Air-Fuel module.

It seems these days every shop with a dyno calls themselves a tuner.  Anyone can buy low-end ECUs and throw them on a project, but that doesn't mean they have the knowledge and experience to properly tune a motor.  Apex will tune almost anything, and our rates are very competetive.  If you're looking for the best combination of drivability & perfromance, why not take your vehicle to a specialist?  Call Apex Speed Technology today!

Radical SR3 by Apex Speed Technology

Working with BBI Autosport in Hungtington Beach, Apex Speed Technology has created the ULTIMATE Radical electrical system.  This car features a Pectel ECU, AIM Formula Steering Wheel and full traction control.  Its now being upgraded with a pro-shift paddle system.

This car features several innovations.  Radio call, traction control settings and map settings are all adjustable by buttons on the steering wheel.  There are no wires between the wheel and the car - the connector is in the steering shaft!  This also includes the paddle shift wiring.  The car features Pectel's excellent traction control and over 200hp from the BBI Autosport built Suzuki Hayabusa motor, as well as AIM GPS & EVO3 datalogging and an integrated Chasecam video system.  The video is mixed with data from the AIM via their DAVID system.  Finally, circuit protection is all via circuit breakers, and custom power relay and switch wiring is all custom from Apex Speed Technology!
